Shimanos Calais DC is the the first self energizing , digital braking baitcasting reel. It is a smart baitcasting reel that uses eight different pre-programmed braking patterns. This gives longer casts and fewer backlashes, requires less effort and it's quick and easy to adjust. The waterproof Digital Control system is self energizing, recharging with each cast and needs no battery or power source. The pre programmed braking patterns allow the spool to achieve maximum RPMs before engaging the brake, where traditional systems begin braking immediately and do not allow the spool to continue accelerating throughout the casting motion. The pre programmed braking pattern can be easily adjusted externally across eight different levels of intensity. This system varies the amount of braking force applied, minimizing the dreaded backlash. The result is long accurate casts with consistent backlash control.
